Our lab embarked upon a new, joint venture with our CHOP GI colleagues in launching the CHOP Gastrointestinal Epithelium Modeling (GEM) Program in July, 2019. As part of this exciting new initiative, we were ecstatic to recruit the talented Dr. Tatiana Karakasheva to serve as the GEM Program's Associate Director. Stay tuned to learn about all of the exciting work coming out of the GEM Program in the years to come.

The lab is happy to welcome MSTP student, Charles Danan, for his thesis work starting in January, 2020! While still early in development, Charles will spearhead a new project in the lab unraveling how our favorite RNA binding protein, IMP1, regulates methylated mRNAs in the gut during IBD.

In other news...
We welcomed our first lab babies in Fall, 2019! Congratulations to Xianghui (postdoc) and Yuhua on baby Aiden and Patrick (postdoc) and Morgan on baby Aldo! Jeremy and I also welcomed our second child, Lola. It's been a wonderful time helping the postdocs in the lab navigate new parenthood and defining what work-life balance means for each of us during this exciting time.
